Alexander Dobrev was born in Sofia City, Bulgaria, in 1984. His parents moved from Bulgaria to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1991, two years after his sister, Nikolina Kamenova Dobrenova (better known as Nina Dobrev), was born. He has been living in Toronto ever since.
