Hateful Eight Cast Revealed - Entertainment

Publish date: 2024-05-19

Today we finally got the full cast list for Quentin Tarantino's much-discussed, and already theatrically performed, next project. Today we finally get to meet The Hateful Eight. They do seem like quite a bunch, and the prospect of having them all play off each other to one of the master screenwriter's script is drool-worthy. Here are the players. You can see why we think they're going to help make this another classic... a beautiful, brutal classic.

1) Samuel L. Jackson as as Major Marquis Warren "The Bounty Hunter"

The Low-Down: Let's face it. Quentin puts this man in everything and we're just fine with that. We can already imagine that there will be at least a few quotable lines from this guy.

2) Kurt Russell as John Ruth, "The Hangman"

The Low-Down: Kurt Russell was originally rumoured to be filling Don Johnson's role in Django Unchained, but that fell through. After a mixed reception to Death Proof, this may be his chance to solidify his spot in the Tarantino canon.

3) Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy Domergue, "The Prisoner"

The Low-Down: This woman has been in countless films and has never held back in giving a role her all. If you doubt me, just go back and watch Abel Ferrera's Last Exit to Brooklyn. Intense. She'll fit right in.

4) Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix, "The Sheriff"

The Low-Down: From FX's The Shield, to recent roles as a transgender prostitute on Sons of Anarchy, Walton Goggins is one of the best character actors working today. Oh... and he also nailed it in Django Unchained.

5) Demian Bachir as Bob, "The Mexican"

The Low-Down: If you missed the two seasons of The Bridge, then you missed one of the most badass leading dudes in Hollywood. Having Quentin feed this guy lines is almost as good as having J.J. direct Star Wars. Almost.

6) Tim Roth as Oswaldo Mobray, "The Little Man"

The Low-Down: I am sure you have all seen Reservoir Dogs. And Pulp Fiction. I think I will just stop there.

7) Bruce Dern as General Sanford Smithers, "The Confederate"

The Low-Down: Bruce Dern is not only one of the longest working actors still giving it his all (he earned a lot of respect for Nebraska last year), he's also perfect for any tough-talking Western where Tarantino is supplying him with acid-laced dialogue.

8) Michael Madsen as Joe Gage, "The Cow Puncher."

The Low-Down: Michael Madsen is part of Quentin history -- ever since he cut off that poor cop's ear in Reservoir Dogs. Then he came into the fold in Kill Bill 1 & 2. He is the closest thing Quentin has to a muse -- outside of Uma Thurman.

BONUS: Channing Tatum as an as-yet-unidentified extra

The Low-Down: Huh? We have no idea.
